Earthwise Adventures is a tour operator rooted in Arusha, the busy little town where Tanzania's northern circuit begins. From here it is a short drive to the baobabs of Tarangire, the forests of Lake Manyara, the vast caldera of Ngorongoro and the endless plains of the Serengeti, with the seasonal calving grounds of Ndutu waiting in the green months. We know these roads because we live beside them, and we plan every journey by hand, one traveller at a time.

We are not a company of fixed departures and crowded coaches. Before a single day is booked we listen, to the pace you enjoy, the moments you have dreamed about and the things you would rather skip. Then we give you honest advice from people who travel these parks for a living, and build a private itinerary that truly fits rather than a package that almost does. If a lodge is worth an extra night, we will say so. If a park is quieter in a different week, we will tell you that too.

On safari you travel with a personal guide who was born to this landscape and reads it like a familiar page, the flick of an ear in the grass, the alarm call that means a leopard is near, the light that turns the plains to gold at the end of the day. That skill comes wrapped in an easy Tanzanian warmth, and it is often the conversations over dinner, as much as the wildlife, that stay with people long after they fly home.

Every journey travels by private 4×4 Land Cruiser with an open roof, full board and cold water along the way, so there is always time to simply watch. An elephant reaching into a baobab, a pride resting in the noon shade, the crater waking below you. We keep our footprint light and our groups small, out of respect for the wildlife and for the communities whose home this is, and we hope you carry a little of Tanzania home with you.
